Caddie Concierges, deeded fractional ownership homes, and legendary service set The Ritz-Carlton Club apart from the rest of the market.

Jupiter, Florida: Five-star service. These days the phrase that was meant to define only the best of the best, the highest standards of quality, is used by everyone from the world’s most luxurious hotels to your neighborhood dry cleaner. The promise has become such a cliché that we no longer know what to expect of five-star service. One establishment, though, has come to define service that is second to none.
“Our motto is ‘ladies and gentlemen serving ladies and gentlemen,’” says Bob Phillips, Senior VP, Business Development at The Ritz-Carlton Club.
“We hire the best, have an extensive training program, and use cutting edge technology to provide the level of service you would expect from The Ritz-Carlton brand. For example, I find it refreshing to be at the Club and be called by your name and not have to be asked what your Member number is.”
Tradition Born Of Luxury And Hospitality
The Ritz-Carlton and hospitality have been synonymous for generations. The Ritz-Carlton legacy began with Cesar Ritz, the “king of hoteliers and hotelier to kings,” who owned The Ritz Paris and The Carlton in London.
The first Ritz-Carlton in America opened in Boston in 1927 with a room rate of $15! The luxurious hotel introduced Americans to such luxuries as private in-room baths, light fabrics to assure cleanliness, and a formally attired staff. Many of those original traditions live on today. If you have dined in a Ritz-Carlton restaurant, you are familiar with the signature cobalt blue glasses on the tables. The goblets were designed to match the blue Czechoslovakian crystal chandeliers in the original dining room of the 1927 Boston hotel.

The Relentless Pursuit Of Excellence Lives On
Capitalizing on 80 years of exemplary American hotel experience, The Ritz-Carlton Club was introduced in 1999, marrying the company’s legendary, personalized service and amenities with the benefits of second home ownership. With more than 3,000 members and locations in diverse destinations, from the tropical islands of St. Thomas in the Caribbean to downtown San Francisco to the snowy peaks of Aspen and Vail, the Club has been a great success.
What The Ritz-Carlton Club offers is deeded, fractional ownership at a Ritz-Carlton Club property. That ownership allows Members to use an allocated number of days, with a portion of that time available for use at other Club locations.
The varied locations offer something for everyone. For skiers, Aspen Highlands and Bachelor Gulch, both in Colorado, offer exceptional access to the best slopes. Lake Tahoe in California gives a third option for winter sports. And all three have an array of warm weather activities when the slopes are not in season.

For those who love sunny days and beautiful beaches, the choices are even wider. Kapalua Bay features dramatic Hawaiian beaches, while the powder-white sands of St. Thomas represent the best of the Caribbean. For golfers, these locations have impeccable golf courses on site or privileged access to nearby championship caliber courses; and in Florida, The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Jupiter boasts a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course.
The Ritz-Carlton Club has put something different into the mix for Members with its renovation of two renowned landmarks: one in downtown San Francisco and one in South Beach. Both serve up the glamour of an earlier era, enhanced by the trademark luxuries of Ritz-Carlton.

Why did a prestigious hotelier enter the real estate and fractional business?
“We want The Ritz-Carlton lifestyle to be central to our Members’ lives,” says Phillips. “We wanted it to be more than just a visit to one of our hotels for a significant event like a wedding or birthday.”
The strategy is working. Today, The Ritz-Carlton Club is not just growing,it is gaining strength as a brand. The key is the personalized services and refined amenities that are hallmarks of the Ritz-Carlton Club lifestyle. From the dedicated concierges to ski valets to luxuriously appointed residences, Members can expect the same level of excellence at every Club location.
A Quiet Corner Of South Florida
The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club & Spa, Jupiter is located a mile from the beach and 20 minutes from the West Palm Beach airport. “Jupiter is a little quieter than the rest of South Florida,” says Jeffrey Berger, project director. “You can get ‘anywhere’ in a couple of traffic lights.
“Along with the beach, you can be at The Gardens Mall, Roger Dean Stadium [for Cardinal and Marlin spring training games], Worth Avenue for luxury shopping, local mom and pop markets like Carmines, and plenty of waterfront restaurants.”
At Jupiter, there are 50 Club Homes with one-eighth shares (35 days a year per share). Like any form of real estate, a Member’s deed can be sold, willed, or transferred at any time. But there is an important difference between The Ritz-Carlton Club and most other fractional properties.
Set on 285 acres with only 131 homesites, the Jupiter Club is one of the lowest density communities in South Florida. The architecture of the Club Homes is Addison Mizner-inspired with marble throughout and plunge pools and barbecues outside. Mature bougainvillea and hibiscus surround all the homes.
Two Legends Come Together
Not surprisingly, the golf here is played on a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. It seems only natural that a legend in the golf world would go hand in hand with a legend in the hospitality world. “When you combine the course, the service and the quality standards associated with The Ritz-Carlton,” said Nicklaus, “you have a very special golf experience.” The Ritz-Carlton is proud of its association with Nicklaus and works hard to keep the Audubon Certified course in constant tournament-ready condition.
“We are in Mr. Nicklaus’s home town,” says Golf Course Superintendent Lukus Harvey. “He provides us great advice on how to maintain the course. In fact, last April, because of his input, we changed the mowing lines on the course to make it play faster.”
The Ritz-Carlton touch is found everywhere in the golf experience. Having caddies on the course won’t surprise you, having Caddie Concierges might. And during season, the course is always open, as the Club opts not to inconvenience Members by closing the customary one day a week for maintenance. And, in true Ritz-Carlton style, nothing is left to chance.
“We have two experimental greens here,” says Harvey. “We test everything—from new mowers to new employees—before they ever touch the course.”
Members appreciate the small touches.“Our cookie humidor in the clubhouse is a big hit,” says Jeffrey Berger. And the big touches.“Our Lion and Crown Tournament for Members is always a big hit,” says Berger. “It is run like a PGA event with a digitized scoreboard and the players’ names on the caddies’ backs. Last year we even had a blimp overhead.”

Exceeding Expectations
Beyond the impeccable golf course, The Ritz-Carlton tradition infuses everything, from the Har-Tru tennis courts to the five-acre bald eagle preserve.
At the 68,000 square-foot clubhouse and spa there’s a fitness center that offers ballroom dancing, spin and yoga classes. Chilled bottled water along with nuts and fruit are handed out to recharge participants mid-workout.
And it’s not just the body that gets refreshed.
“At The Ritz-Carlton, we enliven the senses,” says Berger, “and instill well-being for our Members by the small touches—whether it be fresh-cut flowers, opulent tropical landscaping, soothing scents in the spa, or the immaculately maintained golf course terrain.”
Each Member at the Jupiter location has a secure, private storage locker at the clubhouse. “They can leave their personal belongings at the club and travel back and forth with nothing more than a carry-on,” says Phillips.
This isn’t just a place for adults to play. Activities for kids are quite extensive.
“Some of our most popular programming includes the Circus Camp [kids train with circus performers for a week], Etiquette Camp [kids learn manners] and Fashion Camp [design clothes and then put on a fashion show],” says Berger.
A Limited Number Of Homes And Members
Why buy now? For starters, the last five of the 50 Club Homes just finished construction. “We strictly limit the number of homes and memberships at each property,” says Phillips. “This is done on purpose to protect a private, personalized standard of service for our Members.”

Members also know that the Club will live up to its reputation. “We have a ‘brand promise’ and responsibility to our membership to maintain the Club Homes in mint condition,” says Berger. “Each year, through our CARE program, we carefully look over the furniture, fixtures, and carpeting—everything—right down to the showerhead. If a rug has a fray in it, we replace it.”
In addition to concierge service to Members’ needs, there is also twice-daily housekeeping service and turndown service. At The Ritz-Carlton Club, Jupiter it hardly needs to be said, but Berger emphasizes, “service is paramount.”
Not just paramount, one might add, but the essence of everything here.
